Carter's Birthday

I haven't blogged in a long time (obviously) so I missed blogging Carter's birthday. He was having a rough few days over his birthday and Christmas. He hadn't been feeling well, just a stomach bug. We celebrated twice, once with Tony's family and once with mine. Carter wanted a Mario birthday. He must have told me a dozen times. I made the cake myself and then forgot to take pictures. My nephew A.J. helped me out and took a few with his phone before the cake was devoured.

Rice Krispies Treats

This is the delicious Rice Krispies Treats recipe I wrote today.

3 Tablespoons of butter
2 squares of Almond Bark
10 ounces of marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies
20 caramels 1/8 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Grease or spray 9 by 13 pan. Melt together the butter and Almond Bark over low heat. After it is combined and melted add the marshmallows. Melt, stirring constantly. Add the Rice Krispies and stir to combine. Pour into pan, pat down with buttered hands. In a small saucepan melt caramels with evaporated milk stirring until smooth. Drizzle over the top of the treats in the pan. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments until melted. Drizzle over the treats. Let cool for at least an hour. Cut into any ridiculous size you want.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go lick the spoons.

March 2011

It's been a while since I blogged anything, lucky I can even remember my own blog address. I made some delicious looking rice krispie treats today. We haven't eaten them yet because I am taking them to Mom and Dad's house for dessert after Sunday dinner. I will post pictures and the recipe soon. Whitney turned six a few days ago. SIX! Really she is 6! She is getting so tall! And so smart...she reads anything and everything. Carter is talking really clearly, he's a lot easier to understand. We are so excited for some warm weather and camping. Whitney can hardly wait! Zack is doing great. He had surgery to remove his appendix on February 16th. His appendix had burst and so kept him in the hospital for a few days after surgery. He had to be hospitalized again the following week because of infection and the doctors had to place a drain. He is over a month out from his surgery and he is doing awesome! He came to stay over the last weekend and was able to go bowling, ride his bike, and play with Carter and Whitney.

Trick or Treat!

Halloween was a very busy day for us. Zack was baptized on Halloween so we drove to Rock Springs and then back. It was a nice baptism. He wasn't sure how to take all the attention he was getting though. We spent a little time with Zack after the baptism and then came home. We only had a little bit of down time before we went Trick-or-treating. I think Whitney and Carter had a good time. They certainly got a lot of treats. Grandma Keri and Grandpa Bruce kind of spoil them. It is always nice to see our families. We missed Tony's parents because they went to St. George but they did make it to Zack's baptism. It was a fun day for the kids but Tony said "Halloween isn't as fun when you're a grown-up is it?" I definitely have to agree with him there. It was also great to have nice weather for our trick-or-treaters.

Fall is here!

Fall is here and so is the cold weather. Dang it! We decorated pumpkins a few weeks ago so we could enjoy them for a while. My dad said I was cheating by using these cute little stick in peices (they're like Mr. Potato Head) bu the kids loved them and so did I. NO MESS! Zack was in a play a little while ago. He was in Rumpelstiltskin as a gnome. He was cute. He is doing great in school and will be baptized on Halloween. Whitney is really enjoying school too. We went on a field trip to the fire station and she had a really go time. Carter is very busy, very, very busy. He gets into everything! He is such a mischievous child. He is so cute though. If it is possible I think he may be busier than Whitney was at that same age. Here are a few new pictures.

Time for an update!

So I know it's been a while since I updated this. My mid-year resolution is to stay on top of things a little better. Carter will be eight months old on the 30th of August. He is crawling a ton and getting into things now. He also has started cruising around the furniture and standing up any chance he gets. Whitney is getting ready to go back to school. Preschool starts on Sept 2nd and I am excited too. She likes to get out and socialize and it's nice for me to have a break. Here are a few new pictures too.
